F.L.O.W. & KPFK's Bike Talk present Open Books bike ride

  • Book Show 5503 N Figueroa St Los Angeles, CA, 90042 United States (map)

Since March is Women's History Month, join us in celebrating the work of women authors at our second event, on March 29th. Last month we pedaled from The Last Bookstore to Stories BooksandCafe to Skylight Books; this time we'll ride from BOOK SHOW to The Pop-Hop to The Battery Books and Music, independent bookstores in Highland Park and South Pasadena (here's a sample of the route: http://tinyurl.com/p39556y).

We'll start at Book Show at noon with a presentation on cycling and feminism from educator, activist and writer Jacqueline Morr of Project Intersect zine (http://cargocollective.com/projectintersect). You'll also be able to pick up a copy of the zine!

Then we'll pedal over to Pop Hop, where Jacqueline Suskin of the Poem Store (http://www.yoursubjectyourprice.com/) will set up from her cargo bike! You can also grab a cup of coffee nearby, browse, continue the conversation.

We'd end the ride at The Battery with more relaxed social browsing--it's also conveniently right next to the Metro Gold Line, so you can use the trains to get back to other parts of town, and there are several spots to have a late lunch or a snack.

We're excited to share more of our favorite independent bookstores with you, and support the work of these two vibrant women!

Please bring a helmet (required for riders under 18), front and rear lights, a lock, and check to make sure your bike is in good shape!
